The problem
The one night that has to work twice.
The Funders Dinner is the one night a year Maryland FCA gathers the people who make the whole ministry possible. It is also the night the biggest stories of the year get told, the OJ Brigance award films premiere here.
A night like that does two things at once: it needs to live on for the donors who were in the room, and it needs to reach the ones who could not make it, so they feel what they missed and want to be there next time.
The approach
This is a clean event recap, and its whole job is to bottle the feeling of the night. I told the story of the evening as it actually unfolded, the room, the people, the moments on stage, so that watching it back is the closest thing to being there. For the donors who came, it is a way to relive it. For everyone else, it is a taste.
