Donor update series · Maryland FCA

“Taste, feel, touch the ministry in action.”
An FCA project
Produced as Regional Marketing Director, FCA Mid-Atlantic

The problem
A ministry lives or dies on whether the people funding it can feel what their money is doing, and most of the year they are not in the room. Brandon Johnson, the Maryland FCA state director, needed a way to speak straight to his donors and staff on a regular basis, not once a year at a banquet, but periodically, so the mission stayed real to the people carrying it.
The approach
These are simple by design, and that is the point of a good update. Brandon speaks to camera as the director, telling the story of what is actually happening in the ministry, and I cut in footage from the camps and events I had been shooting all season so his words are never talking over a black screen. Each one carries a story from the field, a real area rep, a real athlete, a real life changing, so the donor is not hearing a pitch, they are meeting the person their gift reached.

The result
This is the recurring donor communication a ministry needs and rarely has the capacity to make. Made periodically through the year, it kept Maryland FCA's supporters close to the work between the big moments, which is exactly what keeps them giving.
The Donor Communication System, in its native form
What we delivered
A recurring series of director-voiced update films (2023), built from fresh camp and event footage.
Every film needs somewhere to land. The Storytelling System is the part that makes sure it does.
