The problem
The Bob Huggins Fish Fry is one of the biggest fundraising nights in West Virginia. It exists for two causes close to home: the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Endowment at the WVU Cancer Institute, named for Huggins' mother, and Remember the Miners, which honors the coal miners the state was built on.
A night like that is loud, fast, and full, food, a live band, dancing, an auction, and the moments on stage where the causes get their due. The job of the recap is to catch all of it and hand the organizers a film that makes people feel why the night matters.
The approach
This is event coverage done right: read the room, cover every part of the night, and make sure the two causes are the emotional center, not an afterthought between the fun. We shot it two years running, in 2024 and 2025, so the film also had to feel consistent year to year while capturing what made each night its own.
The result
A clean, full recap of a night that raises real money for cancer care and for West Virginia's miners.
