The problem

In 2025 the recap was called the best FCA had ever seen, and the whole thing ran on a fifteen-person crew and a system I built by hand. The 2026 question was simpler and harder: could we run it bigger. Same one week, same deadlines with no do-over, a mostly volunteer team, and a bar we set for ourselves based on everything we had pulled off the year before.

The approach  ·  the system, scaled

1

Design it before camp

I designed the entire operation in advance so camp week could be execution instead of improvisation. The team grew to twenty, organized into pods, each with a lead who owned both the daily output and the care of their people.

2

Automate the pipeline

A mirror moved footage between the team's drives and our edit machines on a schedule, sorting it and dropping selects straight into DaVinci Resolve. One mid-week run pulled 945 files, 123 gigabytes of footage, into the editor bins with zero errors.

3

Build a care system

Everyone got a personal check-in before camp and had their prayer requests tracked through the week, because the goal was a team that finished filled, not fried.

The recap  ·  Proven

The 2026 theme was proven. The film opens on a ticking clock, the pressure every athlete knows, and a sneering voice telling them they have to earn it, that they are not good enough, that they will never be worth it. Then it turns on one line: but not here. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, there is nothing left to prove. You stop playing for your own glory and start playing from his. We brought back the Competitor's Creed the athletes had heard all week and carried it one level further: you can live free and purposeful because of the life he gave.

Nightly session opener

Five, the heavy lift

The Intro Films

The biggest jump from 2025: a custom Proven-themed opener for each program day. Sunday asked what are you trying to prove?, then Cultivate, Choose, Commit, and Commission, so the week built one arc, from proving your worth to being proven in Him. Each had its own script, shot on site, and closed back into this is Competitors Camp.

Daily sport recaps

Three

The Daily Recaps

The daily sports recaps covered every sport at camp, and in 2026 we widened the number we captured. The bigger change was how: instead of one videographer owning each, a team shot and edited them in tandem, which raised the quality and got all three finished ahead of deadline.

The daily engine

Underneath all of it

The Daily Engine

Five nightly photo slideshows, five video testimonials, thirty-seven social posts, five social-exclusive vlogs, three post-camp recruitment videos, all five parent newsletters, and over five thousand finished photos against a goal of two thousand, all on the same same-day clock.

The result

This is the year the system proved itself. All three daily recaps were finished ahead of deadline, and the team beat what we did in 2025 and cleared the higher 2026 bar in every category.
